7th Annual Taste of Black Columbia – May 19 Event Recap

//7th Annual Taste of Black Columbia – May 19 Event Recap

On May 19, the community turned out to enjoy a much needed, beautiful evening at our 7th Annual Taste of Black Columbia. The goal was to promote and showcase your company through serving nearly 1000 guests, samplings of your signature dish. The event was, once again, a great success, and we hope all participating enjoyed it as much as we did.

This year the “Best of Taste” Savory and Certified SC Grown was awarded to RB Top Chef, “Best of Taste” Sweet was awarded to Signature Cakes and Catering and “Best of Taste” Display was awarded to Ty Fabulous Creations. The People’s Choice Award was presented to  Momma D’s and the 2nd place winner was N.Y.O Cheesecakes.

The Taste of Black Columbia thanks our community partners Food Lion, Jaguar/Land Rover, City of Columbia, Jack Daniels, South Carolina Department of Agriculture, Richland County and WWDM. For their help in beautifying the event, we also appreciate the work done by Precious Events LLC, Exquisite Designs, Linens & More, YS&S Event Rentals LLCWe Do Draping and The Flower Boutique. Thanks to The Food Academy for sponsoring the VIP room menu and to Christopher Johnson  for showcasing his artistic talents.

We had a wonderful music lineup this year with thanks going out to Da’rrell Ravenell & Peace of Mind, Dante Lewis, DJ Phat Boi and R&B Recording Artist Raheem DeVaughn. None of this would be possible without the chefs, caterers and restaurants who contributed through their preparation for the event, cooking and serving the food samplings. Finally, we thank our board members who support the event with their attendance and helping us make decisions.

We now begin the planning for the 2018 event and hope everyone will join us again.
