SC Top 20 Under 40
Kimberly Butler Willis is the Director of the Roper St. Francis Healthcare Ryan White Wellness Center in Charleston, SC. She works to provide comprehensive medical care and supportive services to adults at risk for and living with HIV. As a native of Hollywood, SC – a small, rural town outside of Charleston, Kimberly understands that healthcare for vulnerable communities can be multi-layered, complicated, and at times, inaccessible and confusing. She works tirelessly within and outside of the Roper St. Francis Healthcare system to break those barriers to care and is committed to fighting for equitable health opportunities for all.
Most notably since returning to Charleston in 2014, Kimberly has been nationally recognized as a leader in HIV care and called to present on various stages on behalf of the Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources and Services Administration. Kimberly has also be instrumental in the creation of the Lowcountry’s first regional health improvement initiative, Healthy Tri-County – a collaborative of Roper St. Francis Healthcare, MUSC Health, and Trident United Way.
Prior to her current role, Kimberly managed millions of dollars in healthcare funding to support community partners of Palmetto Health Hospital. She also worked with a small team to develop and implement the region’s first free eye care center, a component of WellPartners Dental and Eye Clinic.
For over 10 years, Kimberly has coordinated and managed community health initiatives for local non-profits and large healthcare systems. She is a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES), and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science, Master of Public Health in Health Promotion, Education and Behavior, and working to complete her PhD from the University of South Carolina.
