Finisha Bennett is a Benefits Administrator at Charleston Water System in Charleston, SC.  She works with employees and retirees; the youth in foster care and in the community; children with learning disabilities/challenges.  Her primary function is educating, training, and managing the company’s benefits.  There are many occasions that she has to step-in to serve as a parent when the child’s biological parents are unable to care for them and mentor them.  Finisha is advocating and sharing her experiences and knowledge with others facing parental challenges of children with learning disabilities like Dyslexia.

One of her favorite quotes “To be a leader you must first become a servant,” (Robert K. Greenleaf). Everything Finisha does is just a small token she can give to others based on all the blessings God has given to her.

Finisha’s work ethic was instilled by her parents Arnold and Harriett Bennett at an early age.  She was taught to have agape love for everyone. The kind of love that is sacrificial and causes one to put others before themselves. She strives to display this attitude in every area of her life.

Finisha has worked as a “Be A Mentor” volunteer; served as a Foster Parent for the South Carolina Youth Advocate Program; formerly worked at the Charleston/Dorchester Mental Health Center and with Bennett Bail Bond.

The best reward to Finisha is to see these children be successful as they continue into adulthood.  Finisha counts it as a blessing to be able to open her home to children who sometimes have nowhere else to go.  The first child she welcomed into her home was a teenage mother and her three day old infant. It was a true challenge, but with perseverance and help from her family and community, a safe and happy home was provided during a difficult time.

Finisha Certification:  Society of Human Resource-Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP); Licensed Foster Parent; Society of Human Resource Management Member; Palmetto Society of Human Resource Management member (local chapter); Toastmaster Member; Former Bail Bond Agent; Graduate of Charleston Water System’s Leadership Academy, Presidential recognition by President Barack Obama as a Foster Parent, Toastmaster Club.

Finisha holds a Bachelor of Science in Management from the University of South Carolina-Moore School of Business; a Master of Arts in Human Resource Development from Webster University, and is currently pursuing a Master of Jurisprudence in Labor and Employment Law from Tulane University School of Law.
