Erica Taylor is a Chief Officer for Strategy and Communications with Charleston County School in Charleston, SC who works with families and community members as well as teachers, principals, and district leaders to ensure that all of our children have equitable opportunities for success in college and careers, as well as productive and meaningful lives.
Erica knows the power of education to change lives, changes communities, change our country, and change our world and for these reasons, she puts children and families at the heart of everything she does. She has worked in the college and K-12 public education arenas, currently leading work in the state’s second largest school district of 50,000+ students and 5,500+ employees.
Perhaps most important to know about Erica is her belief in service, and whether it is through the Charleston Chapter of the Links, the First Baptist Church, the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, the Trident Urban League Board of Directors, the Charleston Leadership Foundation Board, or the Moja Arts Festival Community Advisory, you will find Erica out in her community and across our state working.
Erica is a member of Public Relations Society of America, a Paul Harris Fellow in the Historic Rotary Club of Charleston. She was recognized as the National School Public Relations Association as ’35 under 35’ public school communications professional in 2014.
She is a graduate of Leadership Orangeburg (2006), Leadership South Carolina (2009), The Riley Institute at Furman’s South Carolina Diversity Leaders Initiative (2013), and has been nominated to participate in the South Carolina Liberty Fellowship Program. Most recently, she was recognized by Charleston Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., as the 2018 Outstanding Educator of the Year.
Erica holds a Master of Science in Broadcast Journalism from Florida A&M University.
