//20th Annual Columbia Black Expo Celebration: Event Recap

Written & Posted by Jessica Celeste

On My 20th, we celebrated 20 years of service and empowerment in the community. Thanks to all the sponsors, exhibitors and attendees for making this year’s event a huge success. We truly hope you had a great experience, met many interesting people and walked away with deals, partnerships, new customers, and energizing new ideas.

Bummed you missed the event? We’ve compiled the following recap as a way to share the fun with you all over again!

We kicked of the expo with a press conference where city officials, councilman, new partners and friends came to show support.

Select partners like Food Lion had the opportunity to conduct a live food demo featuring Celebrity Chef Monica Smith along with the City of Columbia, Wells Fargo and the Shelly Leeke Law Firm who presented free seminars during the expo.

The expo is also a platform where locals can showcase their talent on the main stage to their community.  Singing, dancing, spoken word, and a variety of other talents are performed on the stage throughout the day.

Attendees got the opportunity to meet & greet their favorite celebs like Skai Jackson from Disney’s “Bunk’d” and “Jessie”, Kofi Siriboe of OWN TV series “Queen Sugar” with a special guest performance by Marvin Sapp and an inspirational message from Brooklyn Tankard.

The Greek Village is a fun and action-packed area consisting of all “Divine Nine” sororities and fraternities of the Divine 9. Each have a booth display to represent their organization and its philanthropies.

A little friendly competition is also involved; awards are given to the organization with the best Greek display and the best attendance. All alumni and undergraduate chapters from the area are encouraged to come together in Greek unity to fellowship, educate, stroll, and raise money for a charity.

Lastly, but not least if you did not get a chance to check our amazing Beauty & Wellness Suite presented by Kiss 101.3, you missed a treat. Patrons of the suite enjoyed complimentary facials, manicures, massages, hairstyling and more. This year we introduced the male suite where the guys could get free haircuts, manicures and more. Besides getting pampered, guests also walked away with swag bags full of goodies from top beauty brands.
