COLUMBIA– Celebrating 25 years of promoting minority owned businesses in 2016. The South Carolina Black Pages continues to promote small businesses, products, and services to the largest consumer market throughout the Southeastern region of the United States.
“The success of small businesses is vital to the continued economic recovery in South Carolina and the nation” said Darrin Thomas, president of Thomas Media Group and publisher of South Carolina Black Pages.
According to the University of Georgia Selig Center, the nation’s black buying power will rise from $316 billion in 1990 to $601 billion in 2000, to $951 billion in 2010, to $1 trillion in 2013, and to $1.3 trillion in 2018. Furthermore in 2013, the State of South Carolina ranked number 16 in the USA for Black buying power.
The mission of Thomas Media Group has remained unchanged “to educate, enlighten and empower the community and African American community in particular. Today the company produces a statewide directory and maintains offices in Columbia, Greenville, Charleston and Jacksonville Florida.
Thomas Media Group will commemorate this milestone by hosting a 25th Anniversary Reception on June 30th. The celebration will include the unveiling of the 25th Anniversary Edition of the South Carolina Black Pages and the company will recognize the 25th Anniversary Class of the Top 20 Under 40 honorees. In addition, Thomas Media Group will be honoring the community and the businesses that have contributed to this momentous occasion. Janet Parker, WACH FOX News Anchor and member of the SC Black Pages Top 40 Under 40 Class of 2015, will serve as Mistress of Ceremonies for the celebration.
